At Greenwich Emergency Medical Service (GEMS), our unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional pre-hospital care has consistently earned us both national and regional recognition. These honors serve as a testament to the dedication, expertise, and innovative spirit of our team, whose tireless efforts ensure the health and safety of the Greenwich community.
From implementing cutting-edge medical technologies to fostering strong partnerships with local organizations and first responders, every member of GEMS shares a common goal: to provide compassionate, high-quality emergency medical services. Our accolades reflect not only our operational excellence but also our deep-seated mission to elevate the standards of care and enhance the well-being of those we serve.
In 2024, GEMS was awarded the prestigious Connecticut EMS Agency of the Year. This honor recognizes our unwavering commitment to excellence in emergency medical services, our innovative programs, and our leadership in EMS education and community outreach.
For seven consecutive years, GEMS has been recognized with the Mission Lifeline Gold Award by the American Heart Association. This award acknowledges our outstanding work in heart attack and stroke detection, as well as our coordinated efforts with Greenwich Police and Greenwich Hospital to deliver timely, life-saving care.
Greenwich, with the leadership of GEMS, was the first community in Connecticut to earn the HeartSafe Community designation in 2006. We have proudly maintained this status, undergoing reaccreditation every three years, with the most recent reaccreditation in 2024. This designation highlights our commitment to improving survival rates from cardiac arrest through education, CPR training, and a fully integrated emergency response system.
GEMS achieved accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) in 2021 and reaccreditation in 2024. This recognition underscores our adherence to the highest operational and clinical standards in emergency medical services.
